Hollywood Street
Discover the old memories of Hong Kong. Reinterpret the modern times.
Located downtown, “Hollywood Street” is named after the direct English translation of place in Hong Kong. The tea restaurant not only offers traditional Hong Kong cuisine but also exhibits unparalleled history and culture. The overall design features the traditional green neon signs of Hong Kong as the base, which evolves into the grey-green tone of modern days. The incorporation of regional materials creates a retroX modern style, which takes guests into another time and space upon entrance.
The entry is a semi-penetrating partition inspired by the ancient metal gate of Hong Kong that serves as the border dividing the department store and the restaurant. The cashiers and bar are made with retro terrazzo, using bright candy colors to create a stylish and young atmosphere for the space. The interior design uses wall tiles and wallpapers printed with geometric patterns, using dark malachite green to establish visual layers. The iconic sign outline of Hong Kong is simplified and reshaped, infusing the childish and lovely elements in the old mottled memories with arcs and pink colors, adding agility to the entire space instantly.
The corridor is decorated with metallic lighting fixtures of affordable luxury, rattan blank window, and rippled green mosaic, infused with the centennial Hong Kong elements. Such materials and colors are used to reinterpret and discover the authentic elements of Hollywood Street profoundly. The frame board of the Hong Kong corridor is transformed into a neutral surface and beam design, which corresponds with the historic western houses in Hong Kong. Additionally, the overall space highlights the busy image of wait staff and incoming customers. The large area of light wooden patterns blended with modernity and vintage reveals the extraordinary temperament and background without uproar.
